Tangible Sound Toys Project (Usability Study)

I recorded observations and operated functional prototypes of sound toys designed to encourage sound awareness in minors as part of a research study conducted with school children. This study was conducted by Dr. Kristin Carlson, Dr. Gregory Corness, and Dr. prophecy sun.

Each toy was designed around the affordances of certain househould objects: "capturing" sound with a net, "mixing" sounds with a pitcher, or "hearing" far off sounds with a telescope, for example. Contained within the devices were small microphones, speakers, and blue tooth modules that would send audio data back and forth between a laptop running Max 7.
